As part of JIL's goal of enabling developers to easily write applications and services for a large range of handsets we need to address the fragmentation of the mobile device space. Our Compliance Program aims to provide the developers with the assurance that the JIL specifications will work consistently across JIL-enabled handsets and helping the handset manufacturers check their runtimes and devices to ensure the best experience for their users. During the beta version of our Compliance Program we have worked with different handset manufacturers to consolidate a set of tests for the JIL runtime platforms. We would like to thank all of them for their collaboration. Now manufacturers that want to develop a JIL-compliant runtime in their device can register in http://compliance.jil.org and have access to the test assets that will help them ensure their implementation is consistent with others. We hope this initiative will help us address the needs of developers and users and provide a consistent experience across all our JIL range of handsets. 15 February 2010 HTC, Huawei Device, Lenovo and ZTE Support the Joint Innovation Lab (JIL) Widget Initiative
